Welcome to our Newsletter for 2015. We will update you monthly with our newsletter, so please feel free to offer any comments or suggestions!!

We would like to welcome all our new parents and children to Jellystone. Don’t forget to  our page and visit our webpage, as we have some handy tip sheets you may find useful. Any queries please just ask your teacher or Rachel. Also Parents if you do not want your childs photograph to appear on our facebook page, you must sign our facebook policy for our records, otherwise we assume you are ok with it.

The weather is getting colder, but the days are getting longer! We try to ensure we get out to the garden/walk/park where possible on a daily basis, so please ensure your child has outdoor warm clothes and footwear.

We would like to remind all parents that if their child will not be coming into crèche to please let us know. The mobile number is 085 859 1135 and the landline is 01-2354946.

Parents please ensure your child record form is up-to-date, with current collection names, mobile numbers, addresses, email and your childs immunisation record.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our families a very safe, happy and healthy 2015.

Apologies, we had a lot of technical glitches this month with computers and printers, we hope we are sorted now, so fingers crossed.

On a very sad note, Rebecca is going to Australia for a year and will be finishing up with us at the end of January. While Im sure you will join in with us to wish her all the best in her travels we also want her to hurry up and come back to us, she will be missed. We are in the process of recruiting at present and will keep you posted.

Our Christmas party will be held on Tuesday December 23^rd. We received a phone call from Santa to say that he will be coming into see us all from 3’O’Clock. Santa visit is open to all children and parents, and we would love to see you, as it really is a fun day.

Rachel is collecting old Mens, Womens and childrens clothes for our local homeless shelter, who requested old clothes, so if you are doing a clear out, please bag them and give them to Rachel before Dec 19^th.

Parents again we cannot stress the importance of involving us in your child’s welfare, health checks etc. So please keep us up to date with your child’s check up’s, allergies, milestones, homelife etc. The more we know the better, and we can help too, if we know.

The monthly written reports to go home will resume from the end of September, if you haven’t received it yet, you should do your next visit.

Parents we can not stress to you enough to ensure you adhere to your drop off time (this is the earliest you can leave your child) and your collection time (this is the latest you can collect your child). If you need to drop your child off early or collect late, please let us know beforehand, we will accommodate when we can.

We will be having our Halloween fancy dress party on Friday 31^st. It will be spooooktactular. We are looking for cereal boxes, kitchen rolls, yogurt cartons etc, we have a box in the hallway if you can help us out. Thanks.

For all our existing parents, the child observations are being finalised at the moment, if you have any concerns about your child in any respect please let us know, and we can keep an eye out for it.

For parents with children under 3, after each developmental check with your local health centre, we will give you a form for you to sign detailing any concerns that were raised. We hope by introducing this that it will improve feedback. In order to care for your child effectively the more information we have the better.

Parents we cannot stress the importance of involving us in your child’s welfare, health checks etc. So please keep us up to date with your child’s check up’s, allergies, milestones etc. The more we know the better.

A good tip: as soon as your child can walk, if you can walk them into crèche in the mornings. It does make the transition for your child much easier if they are not in your arms, and also encourages independence.

We would like to remind all parents, not to bring their child into the rooms in the mornings with bottles, blankets, soothers etc. These items must be placed in the child’s bag by parents before entering the room. By not having these items in their hands, the children settle much better, as they become anxious when the item is removed from them later on.

Parents when the time comes for you to toilet train your child, please speak to Rachel before you start the process. We have notes to help you and also before your child can start the process in Jellystone they must have completed the process at home. We also do not use pull ups in Jellystone and Rachel will explain why to you when the time comes. Our website also has some signs to look out for to let you know when your child is ready. If you are thinking of toilet training, the summer is the time to do it.

Again parents we cannot stress the importance of involving us in your child’s welfare, health checks etc. So please keep us up to date with your child’s check up’s, allergies, milestones etc. The more we know the better.

We will be holding our Sports Day on August 13^th from 3.30pm in Joeys (hopefully), this is great fun, and parents are more than welcome to attend. If this is a day that your child is not in Jellystone, please come along, we’d love to see you, but do let Rachel know to ensure we have enough medals to go around. Keep an eye on facebook for more information nearer the time.

We are continuing our work on all our child observations, so please talk to your childs teacher/Rachel for the latest observations.

During the summer months with children taking holidays etc, we will not be doing up monthly reports. We will of course continue to give daily reports but for the months of July & August no written monthly reports will be sent home.

Also parents we would ask you to let us know in confidence of course, of any changes in your Childs life at home. It could be something simple to you (death of a fish) or something big, but your child may be struggling and if we know what it is we can better help your child.

If you are going on holiday or your child will not be in Jellystone, we would kindly ask you to let us know in advance where possible.

Again parents we can not stress the importance of involving us in your childs welfare, health checks etc. So please let us know when you are having your health care check ups as we may have some queries for you to ask specifically about your child to the nurse etc.

Parents if you have not supplied sun cream for your child we will assume that you are applying sun cream at home. If you wish to have sun cream applied in Jellystone please provide us with sun cream and we will of course apply it.

We would like to ask all parents to keep us informed on your childs check ups etc. Please talk to us before and after any developmental checkups you have or even just general check ups. It is important for us to have the most up to date information on your child.

Our ECCE programme will be finishing up on June 27^th. We will be holding a graduation party on that day which promises to be great fun. We may even have a visit from some farm animals!!! More details on that nearer the time. But for those children who are finishing up on that date, we would like to wish them and you all the very best in the transition onto the next phase in their development. But rest assured us and you have laid great foundations to make this progression as seamless as possible.

Im sure most of you have met Victoria our new baby room leader, Victoria has completed her months trial, and we are delighted to announce that pending confirmation of her degrees that Victoria will be joining our team. Victoria has degrees in Early Childhood Education, Educational Psychology to name but a few  and she has worked for many years as a kindergarten teacher. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome her, as she is a long way from home in Argentina, so we hope to make this a home away from home for her. The babies love her too.

Development through play – playing is one of the best way to learn, and so many fun activities have great learning opportunities.

Toileting and Feeding – is your child a fussy eater? Do they refuse to eat etc, are you about to toilet train, or having problems around this area.

Thankfully the sun seems to be out for the moment, we know it is very early to be asking but if all parents could please provide sun screen for their child that can stay in Jellystone. Or if you’d prefer to apply your once a day sun screen at home, please let us know. We will be spending as much time as possible out in the fresh air having fun. Of course next week, we could be asking for snow boots, but once the cream is here it will be used throughout the summer. Your sun screen from last year is open for 12 months and will not offer protection after that date.

We would ask all parents to please ring or text us before 9.30 if your child is not coming into crèche. This is to cut down on wastage of food, as unless we hear from you all your childs food is prepared for the day.

We would like to remind all ECCE parents, that the ECCE payment is completed at the end of May and the full payment resumes from June 1^st.

We would kindly ask all parents to please ensure you collect your child at your correct time. If you are going to be late please ring and let us know, its not a problem but we need to know. Also the crèche closes at 6pm daily so please ensure you are here before that time to collect your child. Although we do realise things happen to delay you, persistent lateness will mean that we will have no choice but to envoke our Late Payment Fee.
